Assistant Superintendent/Chief Business Officer
Matt Torres has served the Fruitvale School District for 20 years as a teacher, coordinator, director, and now as the Assistant Superintendent and Chief Business Officer. Matt has a bachelor’s degree from Pepperdine University, a master’s degree from the University of La Verne, and a doctoral degree from the University of Southern California. He has a School Business Management Program Certificate from USC and holds a Chief Business Official Certificate from the California Association of School Business Officials. Matt was the Association of California School Administrator’s Region XI and West Kern’s Central Office Administrator of the Year in 2010. Matt also serves as an adjunct professor for Point Loma Nazarene University, Cal State University Bakersfield, and Fresno State.
Director, Maintenance, Operations and Transportation
Brian has worked in the Maintenance, Operations and Transportation industry since 1980. He became a State Certified School bus instructor in 1999. The CHP has awarded him with an achievement certificate for driving over 200,000 miles without a preventable accident. Brian also has extensive disaster preparedness training, and crises response training working with schools, private sector agencies and local governmental agencies.
